Please also check any spam blockers you have on the email address you provide us to ensure email from us will not be filtered to your junk mail.  If we do not receive responses to messages we send, your application will be removed from our files.

If you are looking for a friend for a chinchilla you already have, we are not currently accepting applications for our Find A Friend Program.  Please do not submit an application for this service.

 

By submitting an application to adopt a homeless chinchilla, you agree that the chinchilla will remain in your care.  If you are unable to care for the chinchilla for the remainder of its natural lifespan, you agree that you will not give away, trade or sell the chinchilla.  Any chinchilla unable to remain in your care will be returned to Second Chance Chins, at your expense.  You also agree that the chinchilla will receive proper daily care, housing, attention and medical care.   By submitting this application for chinchilla adoption, you understand that chinchillas are sensitive creatures, subject to stress of relocating and new environments.  You also understand that the chinchilla has a life span between 10 and 20 years, and are dedicated to the lifelong care of the chinchilla.

Initial costs for supplies to bring a chinchilla into your home can run between $300.00 and $400.00, (excluding adoption fee).
Is this an expense you can realistically afford?   

Maintaining a healthy and happy chinchilla can cost between $20.00-$50.00 per month.  Are you financially able to care for a chinchilla?   

A chinchilla's life span is from 10-20 years.  Are you prepared to make this kind of commitment to a new pet?   

Chinchillas are very routine oriented and they need to have their daily attention, regardless of whatever else is going on in the household.
Do you now, and expect to have in the future, at least a half hour per day to devote to this pet's needs, both physical and emotional (cage cleaning, feeding, playtime/attention)?
